EMBL self-paced course The human microbiome in health and disease: a course for educators and microbiome enthusiasts

We are excited to advertise the application call for our free online training course on the human microbiome, which explores the diverse and powerful ways in which the microbes that live in our bodies influence our wellbeing.

Titled “The human microbiome in health and disease – A course for educators & microbiome enthusiasts”, the course is aimed at science educators, researchers and anyone interested to learn more about the power of microbes to influence health and disease in our bodies. The course runs from 27 November to 13 January 2024, and participants are invited to join at any time across the seven weeks. The workload is estimated at 2 hours per week, with a course certificate available on completion. The working language of the course is English.

The human microbiome in health and disease course has been developed in collaboration with EMBL_EBI Public engagement office and in partnership with MERCK. We are hoping that this course reaches and benefits as many of the people you connect with as possible, so we would be grateful if you could distribute the call to those in your network and also forward it to any parties that might be interested in promoting and participating in the course over the next seven weeks.

SEPE has previously offered aspects of this course specifically as a teacher training opportunity, titled ‘Introducing your microbiome’. This open-access online course expands on previous content to offer a new scientific talk, scientific discussions and new learning and teaching resources, including a brand new pedagogical activity to teach the impact of the microbiome on human health and disease. Anyone who attended the previous course is invited to view this brand-new content, which has been designed specifically for science educators.
